Welcome! My name is Jessica Braun Gervais.  I am a Chicago-based writer and aspiring photographer with a passion for living an unconventional life. By day, I work as a copywriter and PR assistant. By night, I interview up-and-coming bands for Listen Live and Local, my webzine focused on highlighting tastemakers in the Chicago music scene.

While I love writing about music, I also have an interest in travel and general lifestyle topics, which I will be exploring through the blog section of my site.

As for my background, I was born and raised in the town of Paris, Wisconsin.  To escape the inevitable boredom that comes with small towns, I began studying a few instruments including cello, guitar, piano and vocals.  In the summer of 2010 I traveled to Boston to study music business and jazz performance at Berklee College of Music.  In 2012, after deciding against a career as a performing artist, I moved to Chicago to study journalism and music management at Columbia College Chicago, where I graduated in December 2014.   While in college, I was an intern at The Working Wardrobe and a regular contributor to Puluche.com and ChicagoTalks.org. In November 2014, I traveled to Iceland to cover the Iceland Airwaves and was part of a team creating a radio documentary on Icelandic culture for WCRX 88.1FM. Since graduating, I’ve worked with as a PR assistant with number of companies, most recently wrapping up the 2016/17 season with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
